SEC. 65-3-11. Additions to state highway system; Laws, 1958, chs. 387, 390-393, 395-397, 399, 402-407, 410, 412-419, 424-428, 430, 431.
(1) The mileage of the highways hereinafter specifically designated is in addition to the total mileage limitation of eight thousand, six hundred miles which is set out in section 65-3-3.
(2) The following highways are hereby designated as state highways and shall be placed under the jurisdiction of the state highway commission for construction and maintenance as hereinafter provided, and such highways, together with the highway designated in section 65-3-3, section 65-3-5, and any and all other laws adding links to the designated state highway system, are declared to be the state highway system of Mississippi.
(3) The state highway commission is hereby authorized and empowered to number the following highways on the state highway system and renumber any presently numbered highways, except those numbered as United States numbered highways, and is further authorized to maintain, construct, take over and assume jurisdiction of the following highways in the same manner and upon the same terms and conditions as set out in sections 65-1-75, 65-3-3, 65-9-1, and 65-9-3.
(4) Particular counties enumerated:
1. Beginning on highway 61 North in Adams County, Mississippi, in the vicinity of the weighing scales and proceeding therefrom to the intersection of Melrose Avenue and East Franklin Street.
2. Beginning at a point in or near Liberty and extending in a southeasterly direction to intersect State Highway No. 568 in or near Gillsburg, a distance of approximately twelve miles, more or less. Also, beginning at the Louisiana state line near the Pike-Amite county line and extending northwesterly two miles, more or less, to Mississippi Highway 584.
3. Beginning at a point at or near Gilliland Hill approximately five miles south of the corporate limits of the City of Kosciusko, Mississippi, and from thence run in an easterly direction approximately two thousand, five hundred thirty-six feet to intersect old State Highway No. 35, and from thence in a northerly direction along old State Highway No. 35, approximately two thousand, one hundred twenty feet to a bridge approximately one hundred feet north of the entrance gate of the Texas-Eastern gas pumping station.
4. Beginning at a point on Highway No. 32 approximately eight miles northwest of the corporate limits of the Town of Bruce, Mississippi, from center line of Highway No. 32 thence north five thousand, five hundred seventy feet to entrance gate of the Gulf Interstate gas pumping station.

(a) Beginning at the Webster county line at the Riley Ball home on a designated but unnumbered state highway and running thence in an easterly direction three and seven-tenths miles, more or less, to State Highway 341.
(b) Beginning at a point one-fourth mile south of Woodland on State Highway 15 and running easterly six and eight-tenths miles to the line of Chickasaw and Clay Counties.
6. Beginning on U. S. Highway 49 at or near Folks Store, approximately six miles south of Seminary Junction, and running thence in an easterly direction to Sanford, all in Covington County, Mississippi.
7. Beginning at State Highway No. 371 at the Evergreen community and running thence northeast to Old U. S. Highway No. 78 approximately one mile east of Dorsey and thence east and northeast one half mile to New U. S. Highway No. 78.
8. Beginning on the Mississippi-Alabama state line southeast of Golden, Mississippi, run thence south to Tremont, continue southward to the Itawamba-Monroe county line and thence southwest to State Highway 25 at Smithville in Monroe County, the same being item 137 of subsection (2) of section 65-3-3, together with an extension thereto.
9. Beginning at Wade, in Mississippi, on Old Lampton Highway (No. 613), heading in an easterly direction on county hard surfaced road in Jackson County, to Hurly, Highway No. 63, thence across Highway No. 63 in an easterly direction over Jackson County hard surfaced road to intersect Alabama hard surfaced road at state line, near Dog River, a distance of approximately twelve miles.
10. Beginning at Short Cut near Animal Trap Plant on Highway No. 63, and Telephone Road South of Moss Point, Mississippi, thence east on Short Cut Road, five-tenths mile; thence south on Chico Road four-tenths mile to intersect U. S. Highway 90 near George Washington Crossing; thence one and three-tenths miles east on U. S. Highway 90; to a point about one mile west of Kreole, Mississippi, at Station 0-00, the Bayou Casotte Industrial Area Access Road runs in a southerly direction for a distance of four and seventeen one hundredths miles, and terminates at the entrance to the H. K. Porter Company, Inc. plant site in the Bayou Casotte Industrial Area at Station 220-00, all of said being in Jackson County, Mississippi, to be designated as Highway No. 63.
11. Beginning at the Town of Ashland in Benton County and run thence in a northeasterly direction by the most practicable route to the Town of Walnut in Tippah County.
12. Extend Mississippi Highway 33 starting at Fayette and running northeasterly by the most practicable direct route to Red Lick and thence to Pattison and thence to Mississippi Highway 18 at Hermanville, and thence along the route of Mississippi Highway 18 to Jackson, but the route so designated as extensions of State Highway 33 from Fayette to Hermanville shall not include any county road presently existing.
13. Beginning at the point of intersection of the Natchez Trace Parkway and the Bolatusha-Thomastown Public Road in supervisors district No. 3, Leake County, Mississippi, and run along said road in a westerly and northwesterly direction to a point where said road intersects with the Attala county line and State Highway 429, a distance of approximately five and five-tenths miles.
14.
(a) Beginning at Tuscola in Leake County on Mississippi Highway 487, running thence in a southerly direction along F.A.S. Route 527 to intersect with a local road at Frank Reeves' in section 29, township 9 north, range 7 east, continuing in a westerly direction along said local road to Lena to its intersection with Mississippi Highway 13.
(b) Beginning at the intersection of Mississippi Highways 16 and 25 in Carthage, Leake County, and continuing along Highway 16 to intersection of Mississippi Highway 35; continue south along Highway 35 to intersection at Cedar Grove-Pleasant Hill Road, continue southwesterly along said road across Tucker's Crossing to Good Hope Intersection F.A.S. Route 433; follow southwesterly along F.A.S. Route 433 to Ludlow, Scott County.
(c) Begin on Highway No. 488 at Madden Baptist Church, thence running northwest in front of Madden School and by Thaggards Clinic, thence going by Springfield Baptist Church and intersecting Highway No. 448 between Standing Pine and Freetrade.
15. Beginning on the Tennessee state line north of Barton, Mississippi, and running thence in a southerly direction through or near the Town of Byhalia and the communities of Watson and Marianna, and intersecting State Highway 4 at or near Chulahoma, Mississippi, the same being Item 91 of subsection (2) of section 65-3-3. [A portion of the highway described herein is apparently deleted from the state highway system by Laws, 1968, ch 463. See section 65-3-21 under heading "Deletions from state highway system."]
16.
(a) Beginning on State Highway 15 at Good Hope, section 10, township 10 north, range 11 east and run in a southwesterly direction five and two-tenths miles to Mississippi State Highway 21, in section 30, township 10 north, range 11 east, known as the Good Hope Road.
(b) Beginning at a point on Highway #19 in the NE 1 /4 of section 20, township 12, range 11, Neshoba County, Mississippi, where the road known as the Plattsburg Road intersects said Mississippi State Highway #19 and run in a northerly direction approximately four miles to the Neshoba and Winston county line just south of Plattsburg in section 5, township 12 north, range 11 east, said road being known as the Arlington-Plattsburg Road.
17 Beginning at or near Decatur and extending in a southeasterly direction to Hickory and Hero, thence in a westerly direction to intersect with Mississippi Highway 15 at or near the Newton-Jasper county line. Also beginning at Hero and extending in a southeasterly direction to intersect Mississippi 18 at or near the point where the road from Heidelberg to Paulding intersects Mississippi 18, the same being item 73 of subsection (2) of section 65-3-3, together with an extension thereof.
18.
(a) Beginning at Esperanza in Pontotoc County and running thence in a westerly direction for two miles to Sand Springs Church.
(b) Beginning at Algoma and running thence in a northwesterly direction for three and one-tenth miles to intersect Mississippi Highway 341 at Walker's Store, in Pontotoc County.
(c) Beginning at U. S. Highway 78 in section 22, township 8 south, range 4 east, thence in a southeasterly direction in the vicinity of old U. S. Highway 78 to intersect U. S. Highway 78, or Mississippi Highway 9, at or near Sherman, Mississippi.
19. Beginning at the junction on State Highway 30 near the center of section 18, township 5 south, range 8 east, and run northeasterly along Federal Aid Secondary Route 969 by way of Altitude to the junction on Federal Aid Secondary Route 954 in section 21, township 4 south, range 9 east, in Prentiss County, Mississippi, a distance of approximately 10.7 miles.
20. Beginning at a point on Mississippi State Highway No. 3 immediately east of the Town of Sledge, Quitman County, Mississippi, and running thence in a westerly direction through the said Town of Sledge, Quitman County, Mississippi, across the ditch of the Pompey Lake Drainage District, thence in a westerly direction across Cold Water River, and thence in a westerly direction to the Quitman county line, and connecting at said Quitman county line with the state highway designated in item 21 of paragraph (a) of subsection (2) of section 65-3-5.
21. Beginning at the south end of the bridge across Sunflower River on Mississippi Highway Number 16, being the line between Yazoo and Sharkey Counties, thence southerly and southwesterly for a distance of approximately twenty-two miles to intersect U. S. Highway Number 61 at or near Kelso, Mississippi. [A portion of this highway has been deleted from the state highway system. See section 65-3-15 and section 65-3-19 under heading "Deletions from state highway systems."]
22. Beginning at a point approximately one-half mile south or southeast of Mendenhall at or near Jack Walker's residence on U. S. Highway No. 49 and proceeding in a northerly direction to a point on State Highway No. 541 at Roy Upton's Store for a distance of approximately six and seven-tenths miles to connect with previously designated state highways running to Raleigh, Smith County, by way of Garner's Store, as designated in subsection (23) of section 65-3-9, and item 12 of paragraph (c) of subsection (2) of section 65-3-7.
The above three links of state highway from Jack Walker's residence on U. S. Highway No. 49, running in a northerly direction to Upton's Store on State Highway No. 541, thence to Garner's Store, and thence to Raleigh in Smith County, shall be assigned a state highway number.
23. Beginning at or near Wiggins and extending in a northerly direction to or near Janice, New Augusta, Runnelstown, Ellisville, thence to U. S. Highway 84 west of Laurel, thence north to Soso, the same being item 44 of subsection (2) of section 65-3-3, together with an extension thereto.
24. Beginning at a point two miles south of Inverness on U. S. Highway 49-W and running nine and eight-tenths miles to State Highway 7 near Four Mile Point, said highway to serve Gulf Interstate Gas Company pumping station and seventy-nine private residences. The highway is two and two-tenths miles in Sunflower County and seven and six-tenths miles in Humphreys County. [A portion of this highway has been deleted from the state highway system. See section 65-3-15 under heading "Deletions from state highway system."]
25. Beginning at a point on Mississippi Highway 35, approximately three and one-half miles south of Charleston, running thence in an easterly direction approximately one and one-half miles to Camp Tallaha, all in Tallahatchie County.
26. Forest Highway designations to be added as follows:
A certain link of road beginning on Highway No. 78 approximately five miles southeast of Holly Springs, Marshall County, running thence in a northeasterly direction approximately six miles to the Benton county line, being located in a natural forest.
A certain link of road beginning on Highway No. 310 approximately one and three-fourths miles south of Potts Camp in Marshall County, running thence in a southeasterly direction and thence in a southwesterly direction until it intersects Highway No. 310 at Bethlehem, being approximately three miles in length, being located in a natural forest.
Also a link of road beginning at the junction of a United States forestry service road in the DeSoto National Forest with Mississippi Highway No. 63 in section 26, township 7 north, range 8 west in Wayne County, approximately four and one-half miles southwest of the Town of Clara, and following the route of said former United States Forestry Service Road in a westerly direction to the Wayne-Jones county line for a distance of approximately eleven miles, thence in Jones County in a westerly direction for approximately one mile, thence in a northwesterly direction for approximately six miles, thence in a westerly and southwesterly direction approximately one and one-half miles to intersect Mississippi Highway No. 15 and John L. Cooley's Store, a total distance of approximately nineteen and one-half miles.
27. Beginning at a junction with state highway (F. A. S. Route 1909) in Blue Springs, Mississippi, and extending northeasterly on F. A. S. Route 925 to junction with Mississippi State Highway 348 at Ellistown, thence easterly along Mississippi Highway 348, to a road junction on the south line of section 20, township 7 south, range 5 east, thence northerly along F. A. S. Route 927 via Alpine to junction with Mississippi State Highway 370, near the west line of section 28, township 6 south, range 3 east, continue thence northerly along Mississippi State Highway 370 to junction with Mississippi State Highway 30 at Graham.
28. Beginning at the Natchez Trace Parkway on the Mathiston and Clarkson Road, running thence west to the District No. 4 barn in Webster County, thence north to the District No. 4 and 5 boundary line at Clarkson, all of said road being in Webster County.
29.
(a) Beginning at Walthall, the county seat of Webster County, running thence easterly to the Village of Cumberland, thence easterly to the intersection of Mississippi 10 and Mississippi 15, thence easterly to or near Pheba and Cedar Bluff to West Point, thence from West Point to the state experiment station located about five miles east of West Point; thence southeasterly to bridge the Tombigbee River, at a point not more than two miles north of the present location of Waverly Ferry; thence in a southeasterly direction to junction with the Air Base Road (old U. S. Highway No. 45) at a point not more than one-half mile from the point of intersection of said Air Base Road with U. S. Highway No. 45; and thence to junction with U. S. Highway 82 at Columbus, at which point said Highway 10 shall terminate. This road, located in Webster, Clay and Lowndes Counties, includes spurs near Cedar Bluff to the present state lime plant and to a proposed new state lime plant, and when the unmaintained links thereof are taken over by the highway department, shall continue to be designated as State Highway 10.
(b) Beginning at the western extremity of Mississippi 46, at or near Mantee, and thence westerly through the Village of Mantee to White's Hill Church in Webster County and thence southwesterly to intersect with Mississippi Highway 10.
30. Beginning at the west city limits of Noxapater, in Winston County, running thence in a southwesterly direction to a point one-fourth mile south of Liberty Church, a distance of approximately seven and four-tenths miles.
31. Commencing at a point on Mississippi Highway 490 approximately one and a quarter miles east of Clay Town and running thence in a southerly direction for a distance of approximately four and seven-tenths miles by way of Nanih Waiya Indian Mound along the road known as the "Clay Town-Neshoba County Road," to the Neshoba county line, all being in Winston County.
32. Beginning at a point on Highway 61 near Port Gibson and running thence in a westerly direction for a distance of approximately eight miles to a point on the Mississippi River at or near Grand Gulf, Mississippi, and which road being an extension of Mississippi Highway 18 and which shall be so numbered. Said extension of Highway 18 shall not be considered a part of any county road presently existing.
