MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972

SEC. 65-3-72. Additions to and deletions from state highway system; Laws, 1972, chs. 309, 455.

(1) Additions to state highway system.

Coahama County

The mileage of the highway hereinafter specifically designated is in addition to the total mileage limitation of eight thousand six hundred (8,600) miles which is set out in section 65-3-3, Mississippi Code of 1972 [Laws, 1972, ch. 455, Sec. 2].

The following highway is hereby designated as a state highway and shall be placed under the jurisdiction of the State Highway Commission for construction and maintenance, as hereinafter provided, and such highway, together with the highways designated in Sections 65-3-3 and 65-3-5, and any and all other laws adding links to the designated state highway system, are declared to be the state highway system of Mississippi:

Northern District: That section of road running west from the Illinois Central Railroad Company right-of-way in the Town of Sledge, Mississippi, to the Coahama County line as a continuation of Mississippi Highway No. 315 [Laws, 1972, ch. 455, Sec. 3].

The state highway commission is hereby authorized to maintain, construct, take over and assume jurisdiction of said highway in the same manner and upon the same terms and conditions as set out in Sections 65-1-75, 65-3-3, and 65-9-1, Mississippi Code of 1972 [Laws, 1972, ch. 455, Sec. 4].

(2) Deletions from highway system.

Hinds County

The following link of highway in Hinds County, Mississippi, is hereby deleted from the state highway system and removed from the jurisdiction of the State Highway Commission:

Central District. That portion of the route along and on FAS 410 (Raymond-Clinton Road) beginning at Mississippi Highway No. 467 in Raymond and proceeding northeasterly to the road to the John Bell Williams Airport in Section 9, Township 15 North, Range 2 West. [Laws 1972, ch. 455, Sec. 1].

Quitman County

The following link of highway in Quitman County, Mississippi, is hereby deleted from the state highway system and removed from the jurisdiction of the State Highway Commission:

Northern District. Beginning at a point on Mississippi Highway No. 321 on the south boundary line of Quitman County, Mississippi, and running northward to the entry of Mississippi State Penitentiary. [Laws, 1972, ch. 455, Sec. 1].

Rankin County

The following link of highway in Rankin County, Mississippi, is hereby deleted from the state highway system and removed from the jurisdiction of the State Highway Commission:

Central District: State Highway 475 from Liberty Baptist Church in a northerly direction three and one-half (3 1 /2 ) miles to the Pearl River Reservoir, all in Rankin County, Mississippi. This is the section of highway added to the state highway system as set out in item (25), section 65-3-33, Mississippi Code of 1972 [Laws, 1972, ch. 309].

Tippah County

The following link of highway in Tippah County, Mississippi, is hereby deleted from the state highway system and removed from the jurisdiction of the State Highway Commission:

Beginning at the center of the west side of Section 14, Township 2 South, Range 3 East, Tippah County, Mississippi, at a cross roads, this point also being a junction of FAS Route 998 with FAS Route 971; thence north along designated State Highway 369 to the point where said highway turns northeast with FAS Route 998 a distance of approximately 1.0 miles, this point being near the center of the west side of Section 11, Township 2 South, Range 3 East, Tippah County, State of Mississippi [Laws 1972, ch. 455, Sec. 1].
