SEC. 65-3-74. Additions to and deletions from state highway system; Laws, 1974, ch. 501.
(1) Additions to the state highway system.
The mileage of the highways hereinafter specifically designated is in addition to the total mileage limitation of eight thousand six hundred (8,600) miles which is set out in section 65-3-3, Mississippi Code of 1972.
The following highways are hereby designated as state highways and shall be placed under the jurisdiction of the state highway commission for construction and maintenance as hereinafter provided; and such highways, together with the highways designated in sections 65-3-3 and 65-3-5, are declared to be the state highway system of Mississippi:
Southern District:
Jackson County- That certain service road heretofore constructed extending north from Litton Industries, Inc., to U. S. Highway 90, Jackson County, Mississippi.
Jasper County- That section of road running northeast from Mississippi Highway 18 in the Town of Rose Hill, Mississippi, to the Clarke County line as a continuation of Mississippi Highway 513.
The board of supervisors of Jasper County shall purchase the right-of-way of said road within six (6) months after final survey has been completed by the state highway department, and shall build all brides in connection therewith.
The state highway commission is hereby authorized to maintain, construct, take over and assume jurisdiction of the above-designated highways in the same manner and upon the same terms and conditions as set out in sections 2, 3 and 4, Chapter 6, Laws of the Extraordinary Session of 1949, appearing as section 65-3-3, 65-1-75, 65-9-1 and 65-9-3, Mississippi Code of 1972 [Laws, 1974, ch 501, Secs. 1-3].
(2) Deletions from the state highway system.
Alcorn County
The following section of highway in Alcorn County, Mississippi, is hereby deleted from the state highway system, removed from the jurisdiction of the state highway commission and returned to the jurisdiction of the board of supervisors of Alcorn County:
Northern District: Commencing at the point of intersection of State Highway 2 and State Highway 354 and thence running in a northwesterly direction along State Highway 354 to the Tippah County line.
Calhoun County
The following highway is hereby deleted from the state highway system:
Northern District:
Calhoun County-That section of road beginning at a point where an unnumbered state unpaved road intersects Mississippi Highway No. 9 West at the unincorporated village of Banner, Mississippi, thence easterly approximately 2.5 miles along said state unpaved road to its point of intersection with Mississippi Highway No. 9 East.
