SEC. 65-3-78. Deletions from state highway system; Laws, 1978, chs. 304, 309, 315.

Carroll County

The following highway is hereby deleted from the state highway system, removed from the jurisdiction of the State Highway Commission and returned to the jurisdiction of the Board of Supervisors of Carroll County:

Northern District-Carroll County:

That portion of Mississippi Highway No. 17 beginning at the point where the paved blacktop highway ends in Section 32, Township 20 North, Range 4 East in Carroll County, Mississippi; running thence in a Northeasterly direction for a distance of approximately 91 /2 miles to the intersection of Interstate Highway No. 55 in Carroll County, Mississippi. Lafayette County

The following highway is hereby deleted from the state highway systems, removed from the jurisdiction of the State Highway Commission and placed under the jurisdiction of the Board of Supervisors of Lafayette County:

Northern District-Lafayette County

A section of Mississippi Highway No. 314, having a right-of-way width as presently maintained by the Mississippi State Highway Department, and beginning at the intersection of said highway with the eastern boundary of Sardis Lake Reservoir, said intersection being in the Northwest Quarter (NW 1 /4 of Section 3, Township 8 South, Range 4West, Lafayette County, Mississippi; run thence in a northwesterly directionfor a distance of approximately 4.2 miles to the termination of said highwayat the eastern edge of Sardis Lake, said termination being in the NortheastQuarter (NE 1 /4 of Section 25, Township 7 South, Range 5 West, Lafayette County, Mississippi.

The above described section of highway is intended to include all right-of-way for Mississippi State Highway No. 314 between the eastern boundary of Sardis Lake Reservoir and the eastern edge of Sardis Lake. [Laws, 1978, ch. 304, Sec. 1].

Leake County

(1) The following link of highway in Leake County, Mississippi, is hereby deleted from the state highway system and removed from the jurisdiction of the State Highway Commission:

Central District-Leake County

A road connecting with Mississippi Highway No. 16, at a point approximately six and one-half (6 1 /2 ) miles east of Carthage, Leake County, Mississippi, running thence south and crossing the Pearl River at or near the "Battle Bluff" Bridge to the George Oliphant residence; thence southeasterly in front of the Mrs. Sally Sanders residence to the Edinburg-Hillsboro Road; thence east along said Edinburg-Hillsboro Road, passing in front of the J. O. Hollis farm residence to a point where said Edinburg-Hillsboro Road intersects the Ebenezer-Laurel Hill Road; thence southeast along said Ebenezer-Laurel Hill Road to Ebenezer Cemetery; thence east along an existing road to State Highway No. 427.

The above link of highway was made a part of the state designated highway system by Chapter 438, Laws of 1962, cited as section 65-3-15, Mississippi Code of 1972.

The link of highway links deleted shall, by passage of this section, remain a part of the county road system in Leake County.

This section shall not be construed to delete any link of highway on the state designated highway system as authorized by Chapter 438, Laws of 1962, cited as section 65-3-15, Mississippi Code of 1972, other than that link of highway specifically herein provided.

(2) The following link of highway in Leake County, Mississippi, is hereby deleted from the state highway system and removed from the jurisdiction of the State Highway Commission.

Central District-Leake County

Three-fourths ( 3 /4 ) of a mile, more or less, described as beginning at the George Oliphant residence on the Carthage-Williston Road in Leake County; thence South to the Troy Wilcher Store on the Old Edinburg-Hillsboro Road; thence East along the Old Edinburg-Hillsboro Road to a point where the highway is designated in Chapter 438, Laws of 1962, connects with said road.

The above link of highway was made a part of the state designated highway system by Chapter 461, Laws of 1964, and as amended by Chapter 507, Laws of 1966, cited as section 65-3-17, Mississippi Code of 1972.

The link of highway hereby deleted shall, by passage of this section, remain a part of the county road system in Leake County, Mississippi.

This section shall not be construed to delete any link of highway of the state designated highway system as authorized by Chapter 461, Laws of 1964, cited as section 65-3-17, Mississippi Code of 1972, other than that link of highway specifically herein provided. [Laws, 1978, ch. 315, Secs. 1, 2].
