MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972

SEC. 65-3-87. Changes in designation of state routes; Laws, 1983, ch. 430.

(1) The mileage of highway hereinafter specifically designated does not increase the total mileage limitation of eight thousand six hundred (8,600) miles which is set out in section 65-3-3, Mississippi Code of 1972.

(2) The designation of State Route 21 (Chapter 6, Item 101, Senate Bill No. 1, Extraordinary Session of 1949), a portion of which has been relocated by the state highway department, shall be as follows and shall be under the jurisdiction of the state highway commission for construction and maintenance as hereinafter provided; and such highway, together with the highways designated in sections 65-3-3 and 65-3-5, Mississippi Code of 1972, and any and all other laws adding links to the designated state highway system, are declared to be the state highway system of Mississippi.

Central District-Scott County:

Begins at a point on Mississippi 35 at or near Forest and runs in a northeasterly direction to or near Sebastopol, Dixon, Neshoba County Fairgrounds, Philadelphia, Bond High School, Preston, Gholson, thence in a northeasterly direction to intersect Mississippi 39 at or near Shuqualak.

(3) The state highway commission is hereby authorized to maintain, construct, take over and assume jurisdiction of the above-designated highway in the same manner and upon the same terms and conditions as set out in sections 65-1-75, 65-3-3, 65-9-1 and 65-9-3, Mississippi Code of 1972.

(4) The state highway department will continue to maintain that portion of State Route 21, which is removed from such designation by this section, until such time as construction has been completed on the relocated portion of State Route 21 which begins at a point on Mississippi 35 as described in subsection (2).
