MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972

SEC. 65-3-91. Additions to and deletions from state highway system; Laws, 1985, chs. 318, 426, 532.

(1) Additions to state highway system.

The mileage of the highway hereinafter specifically designated is in addition to the total mileage limitation of eight thousand six hundred (8,600) miles which is set out in Section 65-3-3, Mississippi Code of 1972.

The following highway is hereby designated as a state highway and shall be placed under the jurisdiction of the State Highway Commission for construction and maintenance as hereinafter provided; and such highway, together with the highways designated in Sections 65-3-3, 65-3-5, and any and all other laws adding links to the designated state highway system, are declared to be the state highway system of Mississippi:

Central District-Noxubee County

State Route 388 from Cliftonville to the Alabama State Line.

The State Highway Commission is hereby authorized to maintain, construct, take over and assume jurisdiction of the above-designated highways in the same manner and upon the same terms and conditions as set out in Sections 65-1-75, 65-3-3, 65-9-1 and 65-9-3, provided that, as to the above-designated highway in Noxubee County, Federal Aid Appalachian Funds are available, the project has been authorized by the Federal Highway Administration, and construction has been completed by the county. Northern District-DeSoto and Marshall Counties:

Beginning at or near Mount Pleasant on U.S. Highway 72 and running in a westerly direction in general, the route to run through Barton, Olive Branch and U.S. Highway 78. [Laws, 1985, ch. 426, Secs. 1-3.]

The State Highway Commission is hereby authorized to maintain, construct, take over and assume jurisdiction of the above-designated highway, provided that the construction of such highway shall be with funds made available through the Appalachian Regional Development Act of 1965 and any amendments thereto or with any state or other federal funds that become available. (2) Deletions from state highway system.

The following link of highway in Copiah County, Mississippi, is hereby deleted from the state highway system, removed from the jurisdiction of the State Highway Commission and returned to the jurisdiction of the Board of Supervisors of Copiah County, Mississippi:

Southern District-Copiah County:

That portion of Mississippi Highway 472 from its intersection with Bethel Church Road and extending approximately 31 /2 miles to the northwest corner of Section 21, Township 10 North, Range 10 East; [Laws, 1985, ch. 532]
