SEC. 65-3-101. Additions to and deletions from state highway system; Laws, 1987, chs. 341, 344, 409, 508.
(1) Additions to state highway system.
The mileage of the highway hereinafter specifically designated is in addition to the total mileage limitation which is set out in Section 65-3-3, Mississippi Code of 1972.
The following highway is hereby designated as a state highway and shall be placed under the jurisdiction of the State Highway Commission for construction and maintenance as hereinafter provided; and such highway, together with the highways designated in Sections 65-3-3 and 65-3-5 and any and all other laws adding links to the designated state highway system, are declared to be the state highway system of Mississippi:
Southern District-Simpson County.
That road in Simpson County connecting Highway 13 and Highway 469, commencing at the intersection of Highway 540 and Highway 13, and terminating at Highway 469 at Harrisville (Laws, 1987, Chapter 409, Section 2).
The State Highway Commission is hereby authorized to maintain, construct, take over and assume jurisdiction of the above-designated highway provided that in lieu of actually bringing this road to the Mississippi State Highway Department standards, Simpson County will provide the necessary rights-of-way with the Mississippi State Highway Department furnishing engineering services and providing for the actual construction of the road. The Mississippi State Highway Department will thereafter assume maintenance of the road provided the 9.72 miles of Mississippi 472 southwest of Pinola, Simpson County, Mississippi be returned to Simpson County for their exclusive jurisdiction (Laws, 1990, ch. 396).
(2) Deletions from state highway system.
Copiah County
The following section of highway is hereby deleted from the state highway system, removed from the jurisdiction of the State Highway Commission and returned to the jurisdiction of the Board of Supervisors of Copiah County:
Southern District
A certain unnumbered Mississippi highway beginning at Interstate Highway 55 in Section 19, Township 9 North, Range 8 East, Copiah County, then proceeding easterly for approximately four (4) miles along such unnumbered highway to U. S. Highway 51 at Wesson (Laws, 1987, Chapter 508, Section 1).
Hinds County
The following link of highway is hereby deleted from the state highway system, removed from the jurisdiction of the State Highway Commission and returned to the jurisdiction of the board of supervisors of the designated county:
Central District
Oakley Road- Oakley Road, Approximately 2.4 miles in length, running from Mississippi State Highway 18 to the Oakley Training School and located in the NE 1 /4 , Section 11, the NW 1 /4 of Section 11 in the NW 1 /4 of Section 2, the NE 1 /4 of Section 10, in the SE 1 /4 and the SW 1 /4 and the NW 1 /4 of Section 3, in the NE 1 /4 of Section 4, all in T-4-N, R-3-W, Second Judicial District of Hinds County, Mississippi (Laws, 1987, Chapter 341).
Jefferson County
The following link of highway in Jefferson County, Mississippi, is hereby deleted from the state highway system, removed from the jurisdiction of the State Highway Commission and returned to the jurisdiction of the Board of Supervisors of Jefferson County, Mississippi:
Southern District
Begin at a point where a certain section of Mississippi Highway 552 intersects the West line of Section 17, Township 9 North, Range 3 East, and then extend easterly to the junction of such highway with another segment of Mississippi Highway 552 at the McBride community near the center of Section 11, Township 9 North, Range 4 East in Jefferson County, Mississippi, being a distance of 5.8 miles, in Supervisor District No. 1 (Laws, 1987, Chapter 344).
