SEC. 27-71-347. Violation of this article.

Any person who shall violate any provision of this article, or any rule or regulation promulgated by the commissioner under authority of this article, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars, or by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than six months, or by both such fine and imprisonment, in the discretion of the court. Any person convicted of violating any of the provisions of this article, or any rules or regulations promulgated by the commissioner under authority of this article, shall forfeit his permit, and shall not thereafter be permitted to engage in any business taxable under the provisions of this article.

SECTION 8. Section 27-71-347, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

27-71-347. Except as otherwise provided in this article, any person who * * * violates any provision of this article, or any rule or regulation promulgated by the commissioner under authority of this article, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine of not more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), or by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than six (6) months, or by both such fine and imprisonment, in the discretion of the court. Any person convicted of violating any of the provisions of this article, or any rules or regulations promulgated by the commissioner under authority of this article, shall forfeit his permit, and shall not thereafter be permitted to engage in any business taxable under the provisions of this article.

[From and after July 1, 2000, this section shall read as follows:]

27-71-347.
