SEC. 37-23-153. Maintenance of registry; confidentiality of data.
The state board of health shall maintain the registry of persons having impaired vision or hearing in accordance with the provisions of sections 37-23-151 through 37-23-157. The state registrar of vital statistics is hereby designated as the director of this registration program and is charged with the administration of sections 37-23-151 through 37-23-157. The director is authorized to develop and publish a plan for the registration of persons having impaired vision or hearing. The information compiled and maintained in the registry shall be confidential and shall not be divulged as to the identity of such persons, but shall be maintained for statistical purposes only, and any person using any of the information compiled or maintained in the registry for private profit shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
