MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972
As Amended

SEC. 37-37-17. Duty of school districts upon reduction of allocations.

In the event the allocation to any school is reduced to such point that insufficient minimum education program funds are available to pay the entire salary of any teacher, as stipulated by law, it shall be obligatory upon the school district to provide the necessary funds for the part of the salary of the teacher that would otherwise have been paid from state minimum program funds or to reduce the number of teachers at such school to a number for which full minimum program funds have been provided. If a reduction in the number of minimum education program unit teachers is made as provided herein, no minimum education program funds provided for such teachers may be used for any other purpose than that for which the original allocation was made. In the event that a balance remains in any minimum education program fund of any district at the end of the scholastic year because of the application of this chapter, such balance shall be handled as provided by Section 37-61-5.
