SEC. 41-17-9. Drug store and pharmacist.

The board of trustees of mental institutions shall provide a drug store to be kept at each state insane hospital, which shall be supplied with the necessary drugs, medicines, and surgical instruments that may be necessary or useful in the treatment of the patients at said hospital, said supply to be purchased on the requisition of the director and paid for out of the appropriation made for the support of the hospital. Said board may also employ a competent pharmacist, if the said board deems same advisable, who shall have charge of the same and who shall fill all prescriptions given by the hospital physician in the treatment of any patient, and shall number and paste the same in a well-bound prescription book. The prescription books shall be numbered consecutively by volumes, beginning with number one and labeled in plain letters, giving the volume and the year and they shall be preserved among the records of the hospital. All records and properly authenticated copies of records of any insane hospital in this state may be admitted in evidence in the courts of this state.
