SEC. 41-19-105. Plan of the Ellisville State School.
The Ellisville State School shall provide for the maintenance in separate cottages of criminal and immoral mental defectives.
The board of trustees and the director shall plan the institution with a view to securing the most economical use of shelter, with the necessary distribution of heat, light and food.
The institution shall provide for the training of all young persons to the fullest extent of which they are capable, and in the manner which shall best fit each for life of usefulness. Training in the use of the hands being considered of the highest importance, the educational activities of the institution shall be primarily directed toward perfecting the pupils in the arts of the farm, of the house, and of the shop.
Provisions shall be made for the frequent mental examination of every inmate of the institution, and for a research department which shall study the causes of mental deficiency with a view to curtailing and preventing feeble-mindedness in the state.
