SEC. 41-41-117. Exemption of physician from criminal prosecution or civil liability.

(1) A physician who in good faith and in accordance with the provisions of sections 41-41-101 et seq. causes withdrawal of life-sustaining mechanisms is not guilty of a criminal offense or subject to civil liability for his action and is not in breach of a professional oath, affirmation or standard of care.

(2) Nothing in sections 41-41-101 et seq. shall be construed to condone, authorize or approve the taking of life for merciful reasons, or to permit any affirmative or deliberate act or omission to end life other than to permit the natural process of dying as provided in sections 41-41-101 et seq.
