SEC. 51-35-145. Depositories.

The board of commissioners shall, at a meeting on the first Monday of the third month following the date of their appointment and every two years thereafter, by order entered upon their minutes select, designate, and commission banks as depositories in each and every county lying wholly or partly within the said district, as provided by Chapter 97, Laws of Mississippi, 1908, and amendments thereto, as far as applicable, as is provided in the case of depositories of the Yazoo-Mississippi Delta Levee Board. The proceeds of notes or bonds may be deposited as provided by Chapter 277, Laws of Mississippi, 1914, and amendments thereto.

The treasurer shall deposit, or require to be deposited, all funds of the said district in such depositories. The treasurer shall pay out no money except upon the order of the board of commissioners and warrants to cover, signed by the president thereof and countersigned by the secretary.

All tax collectors may pay all taxes into such depositories in the same manner as the funds of the Yazoo-Mississippi Delta Levee District are now paid, and shall be subject to the same protection as is provided in the case of said Yazoo-Mississippi Delta Levee District.

1997 Amendment

 SECTION 10. Sections 51-35-127, 51-35-129, 51-35-131, 51-35-133, 51-35-135, 51-35-137, 51-35-139, 51-35-141, 51-35-143 and 51-35-145, Mississippi Code of 1972, which create the Board of Commissioners, provide for terms of office, oath and compensation of board members and for organization, quorum, employees, minutes and officers of the board, and authorize the Board of Commissioners to designate depositories for funds of the district, are repealed.
