SEC. 73-39-13. Qualifications of applicants for license to practice veterinary medicine; examinations; temporary license.

All applicants for license to practice veterinary medicine in this state and not holding a license to practice on July 1, 1977, must successfully pass an examination before the Board of Veterinary Medicine, which examination shall be prescribed by the board. Applicants to be eligible for examination must present satisfactory evidence that they are more than twenty-one (21) years of age, a citizen of the United States or a resident alien of the State of Mississippi, of good moral character, and the graduate of a school of veterinary medicine. The Board of Veterinary Medicine, in its discretion, may grant a temporary permit to practice veterinary medicine to an applicant applying before the time of the regular meeting of the board, provided that the application is accompanied by the payment of the application fee as hereinbefore prescribed, and provided further, that the applicant shall furnish to the board sufficient evidence that he possesses the necessary qualifications, and provided further, that he furnishes to said board satisfactory evidence that he is actually residing in the State of Mississippi. The temporary permit shall entitle the holder thereof to practice only until the next regular meeting of the said board, at which time the said temporary permit shall automatically expire; the board may, however, in its discretion, grant another temporary permit, but not more than two (2) such temporary permits may be granted to any one (1) person.
