SEC. 73-53-9. Social Work Advisory Council.
(1) The board shall appoint a Social Work Advisory Council to aid the board in administering the provisions of this chapter. Such council shall consist of seven (7) members. Two (2) members shall be social workers, four (4) members shall be master social workers or certified social workers, and one (1) member shall be a public member, except that members comprising the council as first established shall be persons who are eligible for licensing under the appropriate title and qualifications set out in Sec. 73-53-13. At least one (1) social worker and one (1) master social worker shall be a racial minority.
(2) All council members shall be appointed by the board for a term of four (4) years. If a member is unable to complete his term, a successor shall be appointed to serve the unexpired term. No person may serve as a member of the council for more than ten (10) years.
(3) The terms of the initial council shall be staggered. Two (2) members shall be appointed to a term of two (2) years, two (2) members shall be appointed to a term of three (3) years, and three (3) members shall be appointed to a term of four (4) years, to be designated by the board at the time of appointment.
(4) Members of the council shall receive no salary for services performed on the council, but may be reimbursed for necessary and actual expenses incurred in connection with attendance at meetings of the council or for authorized business of the council from funds made available for such purpose. The council shall meet at least once in each quarter of the year at a time and place fixed by the council, and at such other times as requested by the board.
(5) Council members may be removed from office if found guilty of any violation of any provision of this chapter. A council member subject to formal disciplinary proceedings shall disqualify himself from any council business until the charge is resolved. A member also must disqualify himself from any council business on which he may not make an objective evaluation and/or decision.
(6) The organization, meetings and management of the council shall be established by regulations promulgated by the council.
