SEC. 97-31-35. Sale, possession, etc., of intoxicating beverages prohibited in penitentiary, jails, convict camps.

Any person who shall sell in or bring to, or be in possession of in the state penitentiary, or any division thereof, or any convict camp within the state or any jail within this state, except as authorized by this chapter, any vinous, spirituous, malt, or intoxicating liquor, or intoxicating drinks which if drunk to excess will produce intoxication, and every keeper or officer in charge of such prison, camp, or penitentiary or employed in or about the same who shall suffer any such liquor to be possessed, sold or used therein contrary to law, shall on conviction be fined not less than five hundred dollars and be imprisoned in the county jail not less than one year, or both, and every officer so convicted shall be removed from his office.
